Colin Aten
This is my father, Colin. He taught me the value of quality work. “Doing things right the first time with extra effort to insure durability. That’s how you gain lifetime customers and do good business.” A second generation carpenter, Colin has been in the construction and carpentry industry for over 30 years. He began working for other well known local construction companies while going to college for Building Construction. After graduating and many years working for other builders he started Aten Construction. Building a reputation for quality craftsmanship, he has developed a customer base that has followed him for decades, even generations. On the side Colin has also taught building construction classes at Mid Plains Community College, including an occasional night class in cabinet making. He has two sons and two grand children that keep him busy when he’s not working.
Shawn Aten
I’m Shawn Aten, I developed this website and assure you I‘m a better contractor than a web designer! Since I was 12 years old I was learning different construction trades. I attended college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where I hold a degree in Industrial Distribution (business and technology) and also Physics. After college I move to Omaha Nebraska where I worked as an operations manager for a large building supply distributor that performed product installs for home builders. Later, I moved on to build homes as a superintendent for Omaha’s largest custom home builder. I have taken over 80 homes from foundation to completion and have worked with some of the best skilled tradesmen and builders in Nebraska. Now, I’m back in Western Nebraska where I help operate the family business, Aten Construction. I have two great kids, Parker and Ani, and a wonderful wife, Amanda, who is a kindergarten teacher in Tryon.
