Ventilation (Free Evaluation)
With your roofing estimate we will assess you current ventilation for problems and if necessary present to you a solution with the estimate. One of the most common problems we have seen with roofs is lack of proper ventilation. Most of the time it is not as simple as cutting vents into the top of the house. In fact, there are building science rules and calculations that should be made prior to instillation. Here are some of the problems you can have with improper roof ventilation:
- Baked shingles, some roofs will get so hot (without proper ventilation) the shingles will bake, making them crack and deteriorate at an accelerated rate.
- High cooling bills in the summer, if the heat that is built up in your roof's attic can not escape, it will come into your homes living areas and create an uncomfortable environment.
- Moisture problems, trapped moist air can cause rotting and mold problems in your attic which not only can be costly to repair but bad for your health.

Designer Shingles
This commonly refers to high end asphalt shingles that resemble slate or shake shingles. Usually these are very heavy and more difficult to install but can look great when done properly. Manufacturers will give warranties between 50 years and "Lifetime".

These shingles look similar to the ones above, but they have been manufactured to receive the class 4 impact rating. They are made to resist hail damage. Insurance companies will often provide discounts for installing these products.
